Counsellor
I believe that every person deserves to be seen, heard, and known and am passionate about creating a relaxed and safe space to bring your whole self.
I enjoy working with people from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs and am a firm believer in understanding and working with each person’s individual context and worldview.
Areas of Interest
General counselling, life transition, anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, religious and spiritual issues, boundaries.
I use a client-centred approach to counselling, meaning that sessions revolve around the individual before me, considering their unique context, needs, and goals. My goal is to create a non-judgmental and empathetic environment in which a person feels accepted with whatever they bring.
I believe that each person's story is significant and valid, and that it is worthy of being told. Exploring our stories can bring insight into our current day experiences and empower us to make change. Although life is at times challenging and painful, our stories also contain strength and courage, and as a counsellor I enjoy bringing these strengths to the surface.
I like to take a holistic approach to people, and use a variety of counselling modalities, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed practices and solution-focused therapy.
About Me
People have always told me that I'm a great listener. From even a young age I have found myself taking up opportunities to support and care for those around me. It's no surprise then that this thread has also woven itself through my professional career.
I spent 7 years mentoring and coaching university students in matters of life and spirituality, followed by 3 years working in staff wellbeing and development for a not-for-profit organisation. Alongside that I’ve been working in private practice counselling for the last 4 years and more recently in mental health recovery.
I hold an Advanced Diploma in counselling and am currently completing my Bachelor of Counselling. I am an accredited member of the Australian Counselling Association.
